Who operates Beach Day
Beach Day is developed and presented by High Crest Co., a New Jersey–rooted brand. For privacy questions or support, email highcrestco@gmail.com.
What Beach Day stores on your device
Beach Day saves information needed for features you use, including your selected and saved beaches, recorded beach visits and check-ins, goals, planned trips, app settings, and certain recent condition or safety states. This information is stored locally using the app’s storage and preferences on your device.
The current app does not require an account, does not operate a developer-hosted account database, and does not enable app-managed iCloud syncing for your beach visits, goals, saved beaches, or trips. Device-level backups or restores may still include locally stored app data, depending on your iOS and backup settings.
Location and beach searches
When you choose Use My Location, Beach Day requests location access through iOS to help find beaches nearby. The app may use device location when you use other location-dependent features such as directions. You can also find and select a beach manually without enabling location access. Location permission is controlled in iOS Settings.
To retrieve forecasts, tides, surf conditions, air quality, safety information, water-quality reporting, and local places, Beach Day sends search terms or coordinates for the selected beach or surrounding area to external data or mapping services. When you choose a beach manually, its coordinates represent the selected place, which may differ from your device’s actual location. When you select a beach using your device location, the resulting coordinates may be near your current position.
With Safety Alerts enabled, Beach Day may retain the currently selected or checked-in beach’s coordinates and safety state locally so iOS can perform scheduled background checks. This is not continuous background tracking of the device’s movement.
External weather, marine, safety, and mapping services
Depending on the location and feature, Beach Day requests information from providers that currently include:
- Open-Meteo for weather and marine or swell forecasts;
- NOAA Tides & Currents for tide predictions where supported;
- National Weather Service for applicable official weather and surf-zone products;
- AirNow for air-quality information;
- public water-quality data from sources such as New Jersey, Florida, and Water Quality Data;
- OpenStreetMap coastline data, requested through public Overpass API services, to help estimate coastal orientation; and
- Apple Maps services for place searches, mapping, or directions.
Not every provider or feature is available for every beach or coastline. Beach Day may change its providers as the app evolves, and this policy will be updated when relevant.
Normal requests to these providers can disclose the searched place or selected-beach coordinates, your device’s public IP address, request time, and other technical request information. The OpenStreetMap/Overpass coastline lookup includes the selected area’s coordinates; it is not a request to continuously track your device. Those services operate under their own privacy practices. For example, Open-Meteo states that troubleshooting server logs may contain geographic coordinates and are deleted after 90 days. High Crest Co. does not control third-party logs or deletion policies.
Safety Alerts and notifications
If you turn on Safety Alerts and allow notifications, Beach Day uses available safety information to identify meaningful changes and may deliver local notifications. Relevant selected-beach information and alert state can be stored on your device to support these checks. You can turn off Safety Alerts in Beach Day’s Settings & Data screen, and you can manage notification permission separately in iOS Settings. Background checks depend on iOS scheduling and available data; notifications are not a real-time emergency warning service.
Emails and support requests
If you email highcrestco@gmail.com, we receive your email address and the information you choose to send. We use it to respond to your request and manage support correspondence. Our email provider processes those messages, and we retain correspondence as reasonably needed for support and applicable obligations. Please avoid emailing sensitive personal information unless necessary.
Advertising, analytics, and tracking
The current version of Beach Day does not include in-app advertisements, a third-party behavioral advertising or analytics SDK, or cross-app advertising tracking. High Crest Co. does not sell the locally stored Beach Day records described above. External forecast, location, and mapping services may still process normal request information as described in this policy.
Deleting information and controlling permissions
To erase Beach Day’s app-owned information on this device, open Settings & Data → Delete All Beach Day Data and confirm the action. This removes saved visits, goals, beaches, trips, and app-owned preferences, and clears related Safety Alert state, app notifications, and cached responses. The app returns to its initial setup experience.
Deleting app data does not revoke iOS location or notification permissions, erase device backups, remove emails you previously sent us, or remove logs held by external providers. Those systems must be managed separately. You can disable Safety Alerts within Beach Day, change location or notification permissions through iOS Settings, and request deletion of support correspondence by emailing us, subject to applicable retention obligations.
Children
Beach Day is intended as a general beach and coastal information app, not a service specifically directed to children. It does not offer user accounts or social profiles. If you believe a child has sent us personal information through email, contact us to discuss its removal.
